LDSHE Conference

We sure had a great time at the homeschool conference -- even Quinn, who, though he's too old now to attend for real, begged to come along to tend Seth for me, and ended up changing several poopy diapers. It was all worth it though, since he, and I, and Luke, just love all that goes on there. We got to catch up with old friends and hear amazing speakers -- well, I was too busy to hear many speakers, but did love those I heard. Our closing Keynote was by Jeffrey Poffenbarger, a seminary teacher, neurosurgeon, Army Ranger and Green Beret who was the chief neurosurgeon in Baghdad during the Iraq war. He told some pretty amazing stories (he took care of Saddam Hussein!) but mostly I just soaked in the spirit that was so strong.

If anyone reading this was in my brain class, I'll be posting my power point, handouts, and transcript of that here soon, and hope to also put up my thoughts on "raising a bilingual child if you're not bilingual" soon, as promised.
So now I'm playing catch-up of all the things that have been put on the back burner for the last month. Quinn did get in to the doctor and dentist for his mission papers before the conference, but he has a cavity (his first!) and we need to do something else with his medical papers, then we're about ready to push the "submit" button (or does Pres. Hilton do that?) -- anyway, he's almost there.

Quinn, Adri, and Lindy ALL have jobs right now (and Luke will get his first job in the fall at the Cox Farms Fall Festival -- a family tradition for us) so it's great to have some income earners besides Paul. Cafe Rio is pretty fun for Q&A, and Lindy is working on campus as a TA in the geology department.
